Some updates

Monday, May 14, 2007 | |

Here’s a blog for the Hache family who will be soon leaving for China. Click HERE to follow them as they get ready to go.

Also, if you return to our main China page HERE, you can find the link to this blog and other local families’ blogs are listed down the page. If you know of another blog or related site that we should add, email us HERE.

The Nickerson’s had a very special Mother’s Day as this was their GOTCHA DAY for their family. She’s a cutie and they’ve uploaded some videos to their site. She didn’t want anything to do with Darrel at the beginning but she warmed up to him quickly as you will see in the video. Check it out.

I still have not updated the blog with the latest quilt pieces. It’s coming. We’ve been receiving some over the last few weeks and I’ve been bad at keeping the blog up-to-date. In case you’re new and are wondering what this quilt thing is, click HERE to read about it.

An email we received today

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

I received this email tonight from "B". Thanks "B" for your encouraging words. With the process running much longer than we expected, your letter shows us that the wait will all be worth it in the end.
=====================================
Just linked to your web page - saw that you logged in 15 months ago. Wanted to tell you of a family that we met in China last week.

We were on a homeland visit with our 2 daughters - ages 10 and 7 to China (together with their grandparents, and 2 other families from our 2nd adoption group).

In our hotel in Nanchang - the Gloria Plaza - the hotel we stayed at to adopt dd#2 to our delight, there were american families with their new daughters.

Our kids were so excited to visit with the new families - for the new families, it was an experience to see that these little babies DO grow up. The couple that we spoke the longest with were very excited - they received THE smartest, cutest, best natured, happiest baby of all (well, maybe this group, but they neglected to notice that MY kids were the smartest, cutest, best natured, happiest kids around ; ))

They were flying higher than kites. The mom commented that they were in China 1 year later than they had expected at their LID. She noted that while the wait was hard - having THIS child was the right thing. That the wait was worth it.

I know that I have my kids, that it seems easy for families like mine...but things happened in 96 that slowed our process - we felt that we might never be parents...so, as a word of encouragement - hang in there.

I look forward to hearing that your group has referrals, and reading about YOUR trip to adopt your child.

All the best
"B"

Busy week

Friday, March 16, 2007 | |

Wow, what a busy week. There hasn’t been much time for me to work on the blog. Sorry.

Carol and Danny and baby Mira are in back in Canada and will be arriving in Moncton @ 3:10 this afternoon. Air Canada flight AC8936. There’s supposed to be a snowstorm rolling into town today so hopefully this won’t affect their departure from Toronto or arrival in Moncton. Right now, it shows on-time but it’s much too early to tell. The Airport arrival calendar is HERE if you want to check during the day.

This weekend is supposed to be snow, then freezing rain, then snow then rain, so it will give me more time to do projects around the house. The paint is dry and the furniture is moved back into the rooms from the work earlier this week, so now it’s time to tackle “Gertrude’s” room. Maybe this will be the weekend to move the computer downstairs.

Jen’s monthly adoption-Mom dinner was last night and had a fair turnout. It’s nice to see the adoptive community get together like that. If I could only think of an activity for the guys, I’d organize something. Guys, any ideas on what we could do as a group?

That’s it from here for now. The Children’s Bridge update will be coming out later this week and I’ll try to do another post on that tonight.

See you at the airport this afternoon!

update - local family on CBC

Thursday, February 08, 2007

Lisa and Pierre's story didnt make the news last night. She says they'll be on the CBC news tonight between 6:00 and 6:30. I'm assuming it will be closer to 6:30 as thats where they typically put the human interest stories.

local family on CBC news tonight

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Pierre and Lisa, a local family adopting from Ethiopia is going to be featured on CBC news tonight. As a way to thank the people of Ethiopia, she is heading to Ethiopia Friday to do some humanitarian work before she adopts her children. Her email is below.

Hi everyone, Well as you all know, I am on my way to Ethiopia this Friday on a humanitarian expedition to work with the children in orphanages and schools… I am really really excited…

This morning CBC TV came to our house to do an interview and footage about our adoption and my trip and it will air tonight on CBC (channel 3 for regular cable) on the 6 o'clock news…

Thought I would let you all know in case you would like to tune in to watch ! They will continue to follow our journey within the next few months (refferal, travel, coming home at the airport) and up until the kids are all settled at home which should be fun to have all that on tape to show the children when they are older :) Have a great few weeks everyone ! Lisa

Their blog is HERE in case you want to follow her journey.
