Things have been slow when it comes to the adoption. No great news to report.

FRIDAY UPDATE

The Friday update from Children’s Bridge didn’t really say much and work has been busy so I didn’t have a chance until now to update the blog.

BABY’S ROOM

The baby’s room looks the same as it did last week and the week before that and the week before that. I had big plans of starting on it but quickly ran out of steam when I had many other projects to do. The thought of unhooking all of those wires and moving all of that computer equipment somewhere else is not a fun task. But I need to start clearing out the room which also means clearing out the closet that’s full of baby stuff. The door barely closes.

IN WITH THE NEW, OUT WITH THE OLD

In an effort to get somewhat ready for travel, I went out and bought a new camcorder on the weekend. I wanted it in plenty of time so I could figure out how to use it and (more importantly) show Jennifer how to use it. As this might be our only trip to China, I want to get as much of it as possible on tape so that “Gertrude” will have it when she gets older.  I had an old 8mm camera that had been gathering dust. It was so small when I got it in ’99 but 8 years makes a lot of changes to the size of electronics – almost embarrassingly big and heavy compared to the new ones now. Good old eBay came to the rescue and I sold it and its being shipped tonight. I recovered 10% of the initial cost of the camera. Oh well, every little penny helps, right?

OTHER FAMILIES AND THEIR ADOPTIONS

Check out the links of the other families at http://scottfillmore.ca/china. Carolyn and Marvin from PEI are currently in China returning this weekend I think, and Carol and Danny in Dieppe are prepping for their big trip.

Did you see the story on the CBC News the other night about Lisa and Pierre who are adopting from Ethiopia? The CBC did a nice story on them.  I heard on CBC Radio this morning another story about them by the same reporter. Nice to hear international adoption getting more coverage in the news.

100 WISHES QUILT

No new pieces in quite a while now.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

This is the weekend for the Chinese New Year celebrations in Moncton on Saturday night and Fredericton on Sunday. It is always a fun time to see the celebrations of other countries.
