Weekly Children's bridge update

Friday, May 26, 2006 | |

We received our weekly Children's Bridge update and the disappointing news recently just doesnt get any better. The director of CB is in China right now meeting with the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) and here's a summary of her observations.

  • The current slowdown in the matching process is most likely to change in the near future.
  • The CCAA blames the slowdown on more demostic adoptions within China and a decreased number of abandoned babies.
  • Children's bridge is telling people to plan on an 18 month wait until referral.

Our Log-In Date is Nov 29, 2005, so, based on that information, we would have to wait until May 2007 for our referral and travel in August of 2007. This is 1 year more than we had planned for when we orginally started this process.

I need to keep reminding myself that I am *not* in control of this process and there's nothing I can do. As everyone who's been thru this process keeps telling us... We just need to relax, and enjoy these last months of solitude before "Gertrude" is with us.

I've been reading other people's blogs today and most people dont seem to be very busy with their blogging lately. Once you get your Log-In Date, there really is nothing to report other than the weekly updates from our agency.

That's all for now. Maybe next week, I'll have some amazing news. I doubt it.

I certainly hope everything works out for you, and I'm sorry you're in for such a wait. But try to look on the bright side--the reasons for the slowdown are increased domestic adoption and a decrease in the number of abandonments. Basically that means less orphans and that's really good news if you think of it that way.
