Saturday night, myself and Jennifer and her mother attended the Chinese New Year celebrations in Moncton. It was fun to see some of the traditions and dances they do to celebrate their new year. It seemed like there were more adoptive familes there than actual Chinese families. We know of several Chinese familes who were not there. The kids were all cute and the sounds of kids were lmost deafening.
Today we drove to Fredericton for the Chinese New Year celebrations of the Chinese Culture Association of NB. This was in the theatre of the Naswaaksis Middle School and was a 3 hour event . It included an introduction of the "Year of the Dog" and all of the traditions associated with the New Year celebrations, We also got to see presentations of dance, song, speeches, demonstrations of the students (young and old) in the chinese language school, and don't forget the dragon and lion dances with the big thuming drums. The theatre was packed. Before the show and during intermission, they had some silent auctions and lots of time to socialize. We saw some people we knew who are adopting, but there was a much higher percentage of Chinese families there compared to adoptive familes. I guess there were more people there that we've chatted with, but I have never seen pictures of them so I didnt know who they were. They knew me from the pictures of us on the website, but never got a chance to introduce themselves. Maybe next time.
I took pictures at both events so take a look for them in the next day or so.
So, the next event is a potluck in Saint John on the second weekend in February. A quiet time until then. We have to do some more work on our immigration paperwork, but that's it for now.

I am glad you both had a great time. I was kicking my butt for not attending the one in Fredericton..... Maybe next year!
Looking forward to seeing you both at the pot luck down here.
Take care,
Carrie
